This is not the first time.
Just last month she had to cancel six of her 15 performances in the UK, and in June, Adele couldn’t perform for sold out audiences across the United States.
This time, the cancelation is due to a vocal chord hemorrhage.
In June it was due to laryngitis, and last month she had a chest cold she couldn’t shake.
Adele is famous for her signature raspy voice; she has in the past drawn comparisons to Amy Winehouse.
This hoarseness is what a lot of people love about her because it’s part of what differentiates her.
Ironically, some people are theorizing her trademark voice may be the result of not having been trained to sing correctly, and the long term effects of vocal nodules and hemorrhages can be devastating to a singer, especially one who is as young as she is.
With proper therapy or possibly a surgery, and a lot of re-training it’s possible she can reverse the damage she has done. She’s young and her vocal chords could bounce back.
For now, she is on vocal rest and says that she is going to be starting “vocal rehab” soon.
