Sports Illustrated recently polled 272 NFL players and asked them their choice for the league’s most underrated players. Leading the vote was Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman.Freeman, just 23 years old, has led the Bucs a 2-1 record this season, and is 12-7 since the start of the 2010 season. He’s also coming off one of the best seasons ever by a young quarterback, throwing for 25 touchdowns and just six interceptions a year ago.
Part of Freeman’s anonymity is due to the mediocre play of the Bucs in recent years, and the lack of a national spotlight. Tonight’s Monday night contest is the first for the Bucs since 2003. And despite 10 wins last year, the Bucs missed the playoffs.
