AC Milan players left the field and their exhibition match was cancelled this afternoon after fans directed racist chants at Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Milan, one of the biggest teams in Italy, was playing Pro Patria — a fourth-division team — when after 25 minutes Boateng kicked the ball at the fans, yelled at them, and then left the field.
The rest of his team joined him, and the game was not resumed, according to Football Italia.
Boateng is of Ghanaian descent.

European soccer has been marred by racist incidents like this in recent years. English players were subjected to racism at an away game in Serbia a few months ago. Even Mario Balotelli, who is black and Italian, was targeted by racist chanting from his home-country fans.
Walking off the field is certainly one way to deal with it.
We’ll update here when more details emerge.
