Page Six: Either the recession is hitting even the fanciest Upper East Side schools, or John McEnroe has lost his cachet with tennis fans. At the annual benefit auction for the Trevor Day School, where McEnroe’s daughter is a student, a tennis lesson with the Hall of Fame legend usually draws bids of $20,000 or more. “But this year, the winning bid was $8,000,” said a source. The Trevor School told us, “This year, that item went for $10,000 and last year went for $12,000.”
