Jamaican drug lord Christopher Coke won’t be pushing drugs or guns through his “Shower Posse” anytime soon.Coke got 23 years in prison on Friday for trafficking guns and drugs through his international group since the 1990s, federal prosecutors said.
In Jamaica, Coke gained a reputation as a “Robin Hood” who helped the country’s poor with money from his gun trafficking.
But Coke has also operated in New York and Miami, prosecutors said. In May 2007, he and his men attacked a drug dealer in the Bronx for failing to pay a drug debt.
“With his conviction, he is no longer able to traffick drugs in the U.S., move guns across our border, or terrorize people, and with today’s sentence, he will now spend a very long time in prison for his crimes,” U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said Friday.
