A McDonald’s franchise on Queensland’s Gold Coast has banned children in school uniforms from the store between 9am and 3pm in a bid to cut local truancy rates.

The Courier Mail reports that McDonald’s Elanora has posted a signs around the store saying “any student in school uniform will not be served between the hours of 9am-3pm” at the request of schools.

The Mail was unable to get comment from the store or local school principals, but added that student attendance rates in the area were up to 2% lower than the state average of 91.5%.
