Over the last decade, the list of what you can bring on a plane has gotten progressively smaller while the amount of items you can bring has been narrowed down to almost nothing. But, according to Newser, one man apparently needed a knife on the plane so badly that he tried to smuggle it in a full jar of mayonnaise.
There were a few problems with his logic. First, mayonnaise is not immune to X-Rays. Second, containers with a liquid or gel inside must be smaller than 3.4 ounces. Mayonnaise containers are typically much larger.
No matter what, he’d be found out.
The TSA agents found the mayo and the knife, and confiscated both. But what is amazing is that the man was then allowed to board his flight after attempting to smuggle a weapon aboard.
It seems like a strange decision to let someone who was caught trying to smuggle a weapon through security moments before onto a plane.
