Despite a swirl of rumours to the contrary, we’re hearing from a source Apple will not be announcing any partnership with Facebook tomorrow at its big iPhone event.
We’re also hearing that, while it’s possible Facebook’s long-awaited iPad app will be approved, don’t expect any hoopla from Apple.
Our source is an industry insider familiar with Facebook’s mobile operations. Facebook declined to comment. We didn’t ask Apple, but we feel comfortable saying it wouldn’t comment, either.
Our source told us there’s a “0% chance” of any big partnership being announced between the companies. Makes sense since, we’d expect something to have leaked by now. Plus, it would be tough for Apple to add Facebook to iOS without anyone noticing.
As for the iPad app, our source told us, “The app is sitting in app-approval limbo, a lot of times these things go live and Tuesdays, so theoretically it could be live tomorrow,” but cautioned, “Is the app suddenly going to get approved tomorrow? It’s possible, but I’d be shocked, because no one at Facebook is preparing for it.”
