A Designer Blasts Forever 21 For This Lookalike Necklace

An independent designer furiously claims that Forever 21 copied one of her handcrafted necklaces.

Katherine Kane told The Consumerist that she felt “an acute wave of sadness” when she saw the necklace Forever 21 was selling.

“It was such an exact (albeit poor quality) replica of my LA Signature Pendant, which I designed by hand with a calligraphy pen, that it was almost like discovering my signature had been forged on something without my consent,” Kane told The Consumerist.

Here’s Kane’s necklace. The 14K gold version sells for over $US2,200:

Even though Kane uses LA for the display on her site, you can pick any two initials you want.

And here’s Forever 21’s necklace, which only comes in “LA” form and sells for $US5.80:

It’s unlikely that Kane’s customers would swap out her heirloom piece for a cheap bauble for Forever 21.

Still, the resemblance is uncanny.

Forever 21 hasn’t commented on the necklace.
