Here’s a business that’s taking advantage of all those young girls who think they need a wax before heading off to summer camp.A spa in Florida and New York called Uni K Wax is currently running an advertisement offering girls under the age of 15 years old 50 per cent of waxing services.
Some pre-teens have actually taken advantage of the services, but adults, including ones that work in the salon, have been mortified by the advertisement, according to The Daily.
A New York employee of Uni K Wax told the online paper she’s seen girls come in to get lower legs, eyebrows or underarms waxed with their mothers, but have never seen girls ask for bikini waxes.
Some parents seem to think the young girls need these services before heading off to camp.
“Uni K Wax centres stands by its ad,” founder Noemi Grupenmager said in a statement. “We do not believe the ad sexualizes young girls at all.”
She said the salon doesn’t “promote in any way a Brazilian bikini, we talk about upper lip, lower leg,” according to The Daily. Teens who want a wax must have parental permission and supervision.
