A 690-Mile Yard Sale Will Take Over Middle America This Weekend

Stretching 690 miles along Highway 127 from Michigan to Alabama, the world’s longest yard sale will run throughout the weekend.

The four-day sale kicked off Thursday, marking the 25th anniversary of its inception back in 1987.

At the time, the founders were looking for a way to prove the back roads of America were more than sprawling hills and po-dunk diners––and give isolated communities a much-needed economic boost. Hotels and restaurants are often flooded with travellers throughout the weekend. 

The spectacle attracts thousands of vendors and visitors from around the world, according to Tennessee’s Fentress County Chamber of Commerce, which serves as its headquarters.

The set-ups range from residential front lawns to large fields will rental space for vendors. Check out the route below:
