A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has hit off Vanuatu

A large earthquake has hit near Vanuatu.

The US Geological Survey has reported the quake was centred 85km north west of of Isangel. It had a preliminary magnitude of 6.4.

In a post a short time ago, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami was not expected.
