Mercer recently analysed more than 400 cities to find out which ones are the most agreeable to live in.
The Worldwide Quality of Living survey, done on a yearly basis, uses 10 different criteria to rank the cities worldwide. The housing and sanitation situation is scrutinized, but also the economic climate and the natural environment. Other attributes looked for are a good choice of restaurants and excellent schools and universities. A clear negative are censorship, pollution and infectious diseases.
The survey’s results are mainly aimed at companies and government agencies that might send their employees abroad. If you get sent to a stinking city, you might as well know it before, and your wages may be decided on accordingly.
But here are the top 19 cities where you REALLY want to go. A hint: you’ll have to cross the Atlantic Ocean for most of them.
