The 2017 Brownlow Medal presentation is underway in Melbourne this evening ahead of this Saturday’s AFL grand final between the Richmond Tigers and Adelaide Crows.
The clear favourite for this year’s “fairest and best” player, as chosen by the umpires at each match, is Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin, with last year winner, Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield, missing from the count after copping a one-match ban for a dangerous tackle in round 19.
While fans like to call it the Oscars of football, it’s more like Eurovision as the points from each round builds progressively through the night.
But there are two competitions at every Brownlow ceremony – the first for best on ground, the second, unofficially, for best dressed on the red carpet.
As everyone’s getting ready to get down to the Crown Melbourne ballroom, here’s how everyone’s looking on the night.
