One & Only Palmilla: One of our favourite things about the Palmilla is the eye candy. Without having to go from web page to web page, you can go through the tabs on the Facebook page and see great photos of the property and find out more about what you can expect. They’ve gone much further than many hotels with the design of their Facebook page.
Distrikt Hotel NYC: Many may be surprised to find out that the Distrikt Hotel in New York City is a part of Choice Hotels. Our favourite part of the NYC’s boutique hotel fan page is their event page, which highlights hotel and local events for the month. It’s nice seeing a hotel that features the local area.
Marriott Napa Valley Hotel and Spa: The Marriott Napa Valley Hotel and Spa has made a name for itself in the social media realm. The Marriott Napa Valley Hotel and Spa is one of the most active that we found, posting a couple times a day. They frequently post hotel events that are taking place.
The Algonquin Hotel: The Algonquin Hotel adds a little twist to their social media practices. The hotel has their own resident cat, of whom is also on Facebook, and almost has as many friends as the hotel’s page. You’ll typically find Matilda the Cat interacting with followers on their page.
The Fitzwilton Hotel Waterford: We were glad to see the Fitzwilton with a well-designed welcome tab when you arrive to their Facebook page. While the hotel is in Waterford, Ireland, we found it funny to see a big picture of Uncle Sam on the welcome tab. They have one of the biggest followings among hotels, with over 12,000 fans.
Gaylord Opryland Resort: It’s great seeing a hotel that interacts so much with their followers. Many people ask questions or make comments, and the Gaylord Opryland Resort is quick to provide a timely answer. We really liked seeing them add photos from time to time that weren’t just high-quality photos from a professional, but taken from staff’s mobile phones.
The Hermitage Hotel – Nashville: The Hermitage Hotel has a lot of interaction from its followers, which is no surprise with over 4,000. One of our favourite things was that they allow fans to tag the hotel in posts and photos and it shows up on their wall. This isn’t something you always see with brands on Facebook.
The Westin Dragonara Resort Malta: The Westin Dragonara Resort is another one of a few hotels we’ve found that has a nicely designed welcome tab on Facebook. The hotel has developed a big presence on Facebook with over 22,000 fans. Our favourite part was the “competitions” tab. The most current contest was a photo contest, in which the winner wins a free night for two with breakfast.
The Stanley Hotel: Yes, this is THE Stanley Hotel, the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining. While there wasn’t anything extraordinary about the page, it was entertaining seeing the posts and photos from people who have stayed at the hotel, sharing the haunts and spooks they experienced there.
Beacon Hotel: Once again, The Beacon Hotel in South Beach gets points for its welcome tab. Plus, they offer a special for Facebook fans, which includes 15% off and two complimentary mojitos. We liked all of the multimedia on the page, as the hotel frequently adds photos and videos of the hotel and events.
