Regarded as one of the most liveable cities in the world, Sydney is one of the best places to settle down thanks to its thriving business environment, world-class healthcare and education systems, renowned beaches and incredible cultural diversity.

But the experience of living in Sydney can be vastly different depending on which part of the city you call home.

The NSW government recently put together an official guide to living and working in Sydney which gives a good overview of what you can expect whether you live in Western Sydney, Hills District, North Shore, Northern Beaches or even in Sydney’s CBD.

Sydney currently has a population of 4.67 million spanning across 12,368 km² with an average household income of $2,537 per week.

From the migrant groups, key income characteristics, housing types through to travel times, here’s a breakdown of each region in Sydney.
